RVIA’s TnT Program Seeking Additional Partnerships in 2018 [View]
The highly successful Technician in Training (TnT) Program administered by RVIA is looking to include more suppliers in their hands-on training program. RVIA’s Education Department works with industry supplier members to provide product-specific, hands-on training to technicians in dealerships nationwide. The Association provides a representative to schedule training in the dealership, enrollment of participants and a reimbursement stipend for the trainer’s travel expenses.

U.S. Department of Interior Secretary, Ryan Zinke will address RVIA members as the Tuesday luncheon keynote speaker during Committee Week, taking place in Washington, D.C. June 4-8. The U.S. Department of the Interior has enormous influence on the outdoor recreation economy and RV industry through management of our nation’s iconic public lands. Secretary Zinke, a lifelong outdoorsman and long-time friend of the RV industry, owns a 38’ Newmar Class A motorhome and enjoys the RV lifestyle. As an outdoor enthusiast, hunter and angler, Secretary Zinke understands the importance of access to and funding for America’s public lands and waters and the outdoor industry’s critical $887 billion economic impact.

RVIA Launches Top Tech Challenge Contest [View]
RVIA announced the launch of the first annual “Top-Tech Challenge,” set to take place at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, KY, November 26-30, 2017. RV Technicians are invited to compete live in a head-to-head competition in Louisville to earn the title of Top Tech and $10K. The challenge will pit eight finalists against each other at the show and the final round will take place over the four-day period in a single elimination troubleshooting competition encompassing three different types of technical challenges.

RVIA Advocates For Increased Access To Public Lands and Use of Public-Private Partnerships During Congressional Hearing [View]
Today, Jay Landers, RVIA’s vice president of government affairs, testified before Congress on the $50 billion economic impact of the recreation vehicle (RV) industry. Throughout the hearing, held by Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Landers highlighted the growth and expansion the RV industry is currently experiencing, including the 290,000 jobs the industry supports and the challenge to fill the new jobs the industry is creating. In their opening statements, many committee members recalled wonderful experiences vacationing in RVs.

Senior Administration Officials and Recreation Industry Leaders Discuss Recreation Expansion and Improvements [View]
Senior officials from the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and U.S. Forest Service met with more than 30 representatives of the outdoor recreation industry at Shenandoah National Park on April 24 to discuss improving visitor experiences on America’s public lands and waters. The meeting was hosted by the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable (ORIR) at Skyland Resort – operated by National Park concessioner Delaware North.

FMCSA Renews Transporter CDL Exemption [View]
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) this week announced a five-year renewal of its 2015 exemption from the Federal commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements for drivers who deliver certain newly manufactured recreation vehicles (RVs) to dealers or trade shows before retail sale (driveaway operations). The exemption renewal covers employees of all U.S. driveaway companies, RV manufacturers and RV dealers transporting RVs between manufacturing sites and dealer locations and for movements prior to first retail sale.

RV Caucus Gains a New Member [View]
On April 3, 2017, Representative Barbara Comstock (R-VA) visited RVIA headquarters in Reston, VA. She met with RVIA staff and did a Q&A, toured an RV and met the government affairs and leadership teams to discuss the impact of the RV industry on the U.S. economy. She also announced her intention to join the RV Caucus. Comstock is involved in several caucuses, tasks forces and committees; among them, the Committee on Transportation & Infrastructure and the Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. She is also Chairwoman of the Subcommittee on Research and Technology.

RVIA to Host NHTSA Seminar [View]
RVIA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Forest River and Thor Industries have teamed up to present a seminar that will focus on recalls as well as NHTSA rules and regulations. All interested parties are invited to attend, particularly suppliers and manufactures with compliance responsibilities and those wishing to learn more about the NHTSA recall process. A series of case studies will be presented and attendees will be taken through the recall process from start to finish.
