RVIA Board Votes to Cancel 2009 Annual Meeting

RVIA has canceled the association’s 2009 Annual Meeting, which had been scheduled for March 12-15, 2009 at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, Calif.

“With the difficult economic circumstances that the RV industry is now facing, we feel it is in the best interest of our membership to call off the Annual Meeting for the upcoming year,” said RVIA President Richard Coon.  “In these tight budget times, this will help RVIA and our members cut expenses, and every little bit helps.”

The move is in line with RVIA’s cost-cutting approach that saw a 12.3 percent decrease in the fiscal year 2009 budget.  This year’s $12.8 million budget holds the line on membership costs, including membership dues, show space rates and seal fees.

“We’re keeping a tight lid on costs while working diligently to provide our members with the same core high quality programs and services they’ve come to expect from RVIA,” Coon said.

RVIA’s Bylaws require that the association hold an Annual Membership Meeting, which is normally the centerpiece of the association’s three-day Annual Meeting.  With the cancellation of the Annual Meeting, RVIA will hold an abbreviated Annual Membership Meeting during Committee Week, on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 in Washington, D.C.
