RVIA’s Future Course Plotted at Busy Committee Week

When RVIA members convene next week from May 31 – June 4 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, DC for Committee Week, there will be no rest for the weary.

As usual, the week is packed with standing committee meetings, opportunities to network with fellow industry executives, and one of the highlights of every year – Capitol Hill Advocacy Day, which will take place on Wednesday, June 3.

Committee Week kicks off with the Canadian Coalition Committee on Sunday, May 31, keeps rolling with meetings of RVIA standing committees, and then continues to gain momentum with Joint Committee luncheons on Monday, June 1 and Tuesday, June 2.

The week is capped by the Board of Directors meeting on Thursday, June 4, where committee recommendations for programs and projects are reviewed for inclusion in the budget being developed for the upcoming fiscal year.

RVIA President Richard Coon will present his views on the critical issues and challenges facing the association and the industry during Tuesday’s Joint Committee luncheon. Coon is retiring from RVIA on Oct. 1, so this will be the final opportunity for members to hear from him during Committee Week.

“Committee Week has been one of the annual highlights for me during my tenure at RVIA,” said Coon. “It’s always gratifying to see the success of the industry underscored and it’s especially meaningful to see how our strategic plans have been consistently embraced by our members.”

Other highlights for the week include:

The Mayflower Renaissance Washington is a luxury hotel and historic landmark. Proclaimed by President Truman to be Washington, DC’s “Second Best Address” after the White House, the hotel is on the National Registry of Historic Places and a Historic Hotel of America. Located just blocks from the White House, metro stops and dining and cultural hot spots, the 4-diamond property offers a splendid center for exploring the city.
