California RV Show Sees Jump in Attendance

A spike in attendance and strong sales highlighted RVIA’s 63rdCalifornia RV Show, held Oct. 9 -18 at the Fairplex in Pomona, CA.

Total attendance at the 10-day retail event increased by six percent with 35,148 attendees this year compared to 33,269 attendees in 2014. The rise in attendance was particularly encouraging after the show’s opening weekend was marred by scorching heat with temperatures hovering above 104 degrees.

“The opening weekend was off by five percent with the extreme hot weather keeping people indoors, but the crowds began to steadily increase as the temperatures dropped throughout the week. Crowds were strong mid-week, and we had tremendous weather and a jump in attendance for the final weekend,” said RVIA’s Western Show Director Tom Gaither. “We were certainly pleased to see another annual increase in show attendance along with steady sales activity and strong consumer interest.”

“It was a good show overall, though the hot weather did make things difficult the first few days,” said Dick Torres, general manager at Giant RV. “Customer turnout was strong, especially among buyers with good credit.”

“Overall, the sales activity at the show was quite strong, sending a signal that the economy is well-healed by now and that the outlook is bright for the future,” said Brad Williams with Allied Recreation Group (ARG).

The 64th California RV Show will take place Oct 7th - 16th, 2016 at the Fairplex in Pomona.
