RVIA Preps for Committee Week 2016

RVIA is preparing for Committee Week 2016, taking place from June 5 - 9 at the Mayflower Hotel in Washington, D.C.

Over the course of the five-day event, the association’s standing committees, the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors will meet to review the organizations strategic plan and set the association’s agenda for the upcoming fiscal year. The Go RVing Coalition will also meet on Monday, June 6.

In addition to the full-slate of committee meetings, other key events on the schedule, include:

  • Unveiling of the RVs Move America Economic Impact Study– RVIA will unveil findings from a landmark economic impact study to members and the media on Tuesday, June 7. This new research details how the RV industry is a dynamic part of the U.S. economy by measuring the economic impact created by the entirety of the RV market. Findings from this important study can be tabulated and reported at the national, state and congressional district level, providing RV industry members with powerful, functional data on how RVs move America.
  • A Capitol Evening at the Ronald Reagan Building -- The RV industry will gather for a special dinner event at the Ronald Reagan Building on the evening of Tuesday, June 7, for a look ahead to the 2016 elections and beyond. Former Vermont governor, and 2004 presidential candidate, Dr. Howard Dean will speak to the up-to-the-minute machinations on the Democratic side of the race, with a yet-to-be named esteemed Republican colleague from across the aisle offering thoughts on the latest presidential race happenings for Republicans.
  • RVIA’s Capitol Hill Advocacy Day – RVIA members will visit Capitol Hill on Wednesday, June 8, to meet with legislators and their staff to discuss key issues critical to the RV industry.  The activism and excitement carries into the evening with the Senate and House RV Caucus Reception, taking place from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. RVIA members will join with special guests from the U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Capitol Hill staff, government agencies and allied trade associations to raise awareness about RV travel and camping. Following the reception, Capitol Hill Advocacy Day participants will end the day on a high note with the “RVs Move America Celebration” dinner at Bobby Van’s. This event will be the perfect backdrop for RVIA members to toast a great day of advocacy and share stories about their adventures on Capitol Hill.

The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection in Washington is a luxury hotel and historic landmark. Proclaimed by President Truman to be Washington, DC’s “Second Best Address” after the White House, the hotel is on the National Registry of Historic Places and a Historic Hotel of America. Located just blocks from the White House, metro stops and dining and cultural hot spots, the 4-diamond property offers a splendid center for exploring the city.
