Recreation Vehicle Industry Association Hires Trade Show Industry Veteran Liz Crawford as Senior Vice President of Tradeshows and Events

The Recreation Vehicle Industry Association (RVIA) announced today the appointment of Liz Crawford as Senior Vice President of Tradeshows and Events said Frank Hugelmeyer, RVIA President.

This newly created position will be instrumental in delivering growth for all RVIA events including the National Show being held November 29 – December 1, 2016 in Louisville, KY and the California RV Show slated for October 7-16, 2016 at the Pomona Fairgrounds in Southern California. In addition to these events, Crawford will oversee all other events produced by the Association.

“Both the consumer event and the national event are strong, well established standing shows,” said Hugelmeyer. “We created this position to help the organization not just sustain the events, but to work with our team, and industry members to create ‘must-attend’ events as well as look for ways to bring in strategic alliances that will deliver increased value to both dealers and manufacturers. Liz is a strong, decisive industry leader in trade shows, and has the right skills to take the events forward.”

The National RV Show is in its 54th year and is consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Trade shows in the nation according to Trade Show Executive Magazine. The show occupies nearly 800,000 square feet of space, and is attended by all major manufacturers of recreation vehicles, as well as components parts suppliers, and accessories representing 98% of those RVs built in the US. Attendance was 7,700 in 2015 and the 2016 show is pacing ahead of last year’s event.

The California RV Show, a ten-day event is also ranked as one of the best and largest in the country with over a million square feet of space, and 1,300 RVs on hand for consumers to browse and shop. In its 64th year, the event has more than 20 dealers, 35,000 attendees, along with suppliers of accessories, travel programs and everything consumers need to enjoy their family camping trips.

“I’m thrilled to be joining the RVIA team,” said Crawford. “The value proposition these shows offer to both the trade and consumer is unparalleled. There are a lot of growth opportunities with these events, and with the newly defined strategic direction the RVIA has set forth for the organization and its members, I feel this is the right time to be a part of it.”

Crawford joins the organization with more than 20 years of experience in the trade show industry where most recently she served as the VP, Group Show Director for Emerald Expositions, one the largest trade show providers in the country. As VP she was instrumental in leading two shows within her portfolio into sustained growth. She also served as Senior Director of Marketing for Outdoor Retailer, one of Emerald’s flagship events, which was held twice a year. Prior to Emerald Expositions, she worked at both Advanstar Communications, now UBM Advanstar, and Questex Media.
