RVIA To Convene in Hawaii for Annual Meeting

(RESTON, VA) RVIA members gathering for the Annual Meeting will receive updates on association activities, attend educational seminars and network with business colleagues during the course of the four-day event, set for March 1-4 at the Fairmont Orchid Resort on the Big Island of Hawaii.

The event kicks off on Saturday, March 1 with meetings of RVIA’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors followed by a Welcome Reception that evening.

Supplier Appreciation Day will be held on Sunday, March 2. The day begins with the RV Manufacturer/Supplier Forum, featuring three insightful seminars from dynamic speakers on issues that are very topical for the RV industry. These sessions include an economic outlook from Dr. Lowell Catlett, Regent’s Professor of Economics, Agriculture and Genetic Engineering at New Mexico State University; “Future Trends for the RV Industry” by Jack Uldrich, president of the NanoVeritas Group; and “A View From Washington” by Morton Kondracke, executive editor of Capitol Hill’s Roll Call newspaper. RVIA’s Annual Golf Tournament as well as a whale-watching cruise are on tap for the afternoon.

RVIA’s Annual Membership Meeting headlines Monday, March 3. Attendees will receive an in-depth report on association activities from RVIA Chairman Carl Pfalzgraf, RVIA President Richard Coon and RVIA Treasurer Doug Gaeddert. RVIA will also honor industry and association leaders by presenting a host of awards, including the Distinguished Service to the RV Industry Award, at the event.

In addition, there will be a joint RVIA Public Relations/Go RVing presentation entitled “Growing the RV Market in a Green, New World.” RVIA PR Committee Chairman B.J. Thompson and Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer Gary LaBella will begin with “Leading Us Into the Global Village,” detailing how RVIA initiatives are tackling tough issues and helping the industry communicate more effectively with the media and increasingly diverse consumer audiences.

Go RVing Coalition Co-Chairman Don Walter will then join LaBella for “Go RVing: A New Media Landscape,” which will examine the 2008 campaign, the emergence of new media in Go RVing efforts, and the outlook for the Phase V campaign.

The Membership Meeting will also feature two special guest presentations. Matthew Godlewski, vice president, state affairs for the Alliance for Automobile Manufacturers, will discuss the new CAFE standards /greenhouse gas emission legislation and what it all means for the automotive and RV industries. Michael A. McGeehin, Ph.D., Michael G. Gressel, Ph.D., and Chad H. Dowell with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will discuss the issue of formaldehyde levels in FEMA trailers.

The Annual Chairman’s Reception and Dinner, hosted by RVIA Chairman Carl Pfalzgraf culminates the Annual Meeting on the evening of March 3.
