RV Shipments Up 10% Through July

The RV market continued to track upward through July with total year-to-date shipments reaching 177,845 units, a gain of 9.8% over the 161,973 units during the same time frame in 2011, according to RVIA‘s latest survey of RV manufacturers.

Towable RV shipments are up 10.8%, rising from 145,563 units through July 2011 to 161,314 units through July 2012. Motorhome shipments are up slightly (0.7%), increasing from 16,410 last year to 16,531units this year through July.

Seasonally adjusted, the July total represented an annualized rate of nearly 296,500 units, a 10% increase over last month and the highest rate so far this year.

The steady performance of the RV market through the first seven months of 2012 is tracking with the year-end industry projections made by Dr. Richard Curtin in the Fall 2012 issue of RV Roadsigns, RVIA’s quarterly forecasting newsletter.  Dr. Curtin expects RV shipments to sustain moderate growth to reach 273,600 units by year end, a gain of 8.4% over 2011 and the highest annual total since 2007.
