RV Shipments Rise through October

The RV market continued to climb through October with wholesale shipments rising to 246,228 units, an increase of more than 12% over the same ten-month period on 2011. On a seasonally adjusted basis, RV shipments reached an annualized rate of 280,000 units in October.

According to RVIA’s latest monthly survey of member manufacturers, shipments to retailers of all RVs were reported at 24,947 units in October, up 31.5% over September totals and 31% ahead of October shipments last year. Double digit gains were recorded in all vehicle types when comparing October 2012 totals to October 2011 results with type C motorhomes and conventional travel trailers climbing the most.

On a cumulative annual basis, all RV product categories except folding camping trailers have improved the in first ten months of 2012 compared to the same time period in 2011. Towable shipments have risen by nearly 13% from 197,058 to 222,468 units. Motorhome shipments have increased by 8.3% from 21,937 units to 23,760 units.
