RVIA Will Host Free Seminar on Boosting RV Transport Driver Pool

RVIA will hold a free informational session for transport company executives and hiring managers at the RV/MH Hall of Fame in Elkhart IN on Tuesday, April 15, from 7:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. to update attendees on the association’s efforts to develop a larger pool of RV transport drivers for the RV industry.

The morning will begin with coffee and donuts at 7:30 a.m. and be followed by a 30-minute presentation and 30-minute Q&A session with executives with The Employment Network, a company that specializes in providing clients with an array of web-based and online staffing and recruiting solutions. RVIA is partnering with the company to raise awareness among those seeking employment of the immediate need for RV transport drivers in the RV industry. The session will focus on how The Employment Network can offer transport companies innovative and affordable job recruitment solutions and screening programs for transport drivers by leveraging their national network. The company has had success in helping the commercial trucking and automobile industries address similar employee shortages.

“Hiring enough transport drivers from January through June has been an ongoing problem for several years that has been exacerbated by the recent boom in the RV industry,” said RVIA President Richard Coon. “This seminar will help transport companies in the Elkhart area learn more about The Employment Network and how partnering with the company can help them boost their staffing.”

Following the presentation by The Employment Network, RVIA government affairs staff will detail how the association is addressing this issue from a long range perspective by working with related industry organizations and federal government agencies to change the regulations that govern transport companies and their drivers to increase the pool of drivers in the future. RVIA is attempting to allow drivers to transport RVs up to a certain weight without the need for a Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL).

RV transport company executives interested in attending the seminar should contact RVIA’s Linda Dority at ldority@rvia.org for pre-registration information. There is no charge to attend the seminar.
