RVIA’s Board of Directors capped an intense week of activity at Committee Week by approving an increase of the RVIA seal price to $35 to help address the growing pressure on the association’s budget caused by the reduction in show and dues income due to the downturn in the RV market.

Go RVing Coalition Says Yes to New TV Ads [View]
The Go RVing Coalition has approved the creation of new television ads to begin airing in early 2010 to keep RV travel prominently in the minds of consumers as the economy rebounds. The unanimous motion was passed at the Coalition’s June 8 meeting during RVIA’s Committee Week in Washington, DC, giving The Richards Group of Dallas, Texas the go-ahead to begin concepting two-to-three new, low-cost spots with timely messaging about the value of RV ownership and travel.

Sheldon Touts Promising Future for RV Industry [View]
In his remarks at RVIA’s Membership Meeting June 9, RVIA Chairman of the Board Jim Sheldon (pictured at right) reviewed the turbulent year the RV industry and the association have faced, and pointed to signs that the nation’s economy may be beginning to recover, saying, “Whereas last year, we were about to unknowingly walk off an economic cliff; this year, we are beginning the resolute climb back to recovery with a far more clear picture of what we are dealing with.”

RVIA Boosts Federal Profile with Legislative Awards, Advocacy Day [View]
At this year's Committee Week, RVIA members participated in several activities that boosted the industry's profile on Capitol Hill, ensured that Congress is aware of the RV industry's needs, and recognized the work done on the industry's behalf by members of Congress. Over three days, RVIA presented awards to one senator and two congressmen, made over 40 visits to members of Congress and their staffs, and held a fundraiser for Rep. Peter DeFazio of Oregon.

RV Shipments to Begin Recovery in 2010 [View]
The RV industry’s shipments are projected to total approximately 169,500 units in 2010 — a 24 percent increase from the 136,500 predicted for 2009 — according to a new forecast by RV industry analyst Dr. Richard Curtin, released at Recreation Vehicle Industry Association’s (RVIA) Annual Membership Meeting on June 9.

RVIA Applauds SBA Move on Floor Plan Lending [View]
RVIA’s efforts to expand the availability of credit to RV manufacturers, suppliers and dealers resulted in a key victory on an important front today when the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced that, effective July 1, it will waive the floor plan lending prohibition that is currently part of its 7(a) loan guarantee program, and will guarantee dealer floor plan (DFP) loans.
