RV Shipments to Maintain Fourth Month of Growth over 2016

RVIA’s April survey of manufacturers found RV wholesale shipments finished above 40,000 for the second month.  Monthly shipments totaled 42,295; an increase of 5.6% compared to last April.  Year-to-date wholesale RV shipments have reached 163,161 units, up 10.1% when compared to totals through last April 2016.

Senior Administration Officials and Recreation Industry Leaders Discuss Recreation Expansion and Improvements

Senior officials from the U.S. Department of the Interior (DOI) and U.S. Forest Service met with more than 30 representatives of the outdoor recreation industry at Shenandoah National Park on April 24 to discuss improving visitor experiences on America’s public lands and waters. The meeting was hosted by the Outdoor Recreation Industry Roundtable (ORIR) at Skyland Resort – operated by National Park concessioner Delaware North.

RV Shipments Up 8.6% in 2017
February’s survey of manufacturers conducted by RVIA found wholesale shipments continuing the strong start to 2017 with a monthly total of 39,428 units.  That represents a 9.7% rise compared to February 2016 total of 35,929 and a 14.1% gain over last month’s very strong total of 33,859. More...


RVIA Advocates For Increased Access To Public Lands and Use of Public-Private Partnerships During Congressional Hearing
Today, Jay Landers, RVIA’s vice president of government affairs, testified before Congress on the $50 billion economic impact of the recreation vehicle (RV) industry. Throughout the hearing, held by Digital Commerce and Consumer Protection Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, Landers highlighted the growth and expansion the RV industry is currently experiencing, including the 290,000 jobs the industry supports and the challenge to fill the new jobs the industry is creating. RV Shipments Reach Highest Total in 40 Years
Sometimes when a record is broken it stands for a number of years.  Lately in the RV industry, however, records are falling year-after-year, with 2016 seeing RV shipments of 430,961 total units, a 15.1% increase over 2015, and the best annual total in 40 years. This past year also marked the seventh consecutive annual increase in RV shipments, a consistent climb that began in the valley that was dug during the Great Recession. More...

RVIA’s TnT Program Seeking Additional Partnerships in 2018
The highly successful Technician in Training (TnT) Program administered by RVIA is looking to include more suppliers in their hands-on training program.  RVIA’s Education Department works with industry supplier members to provide product-specific, hands-on training to technicians in dealerships nationwide.  The Association provides a representative to schedule training in the dealership, enrollment of participants and a reimbursement stipend for the trainer’s travel expenses. RVIA Launches Top Tech Challenge Contest
RVIA announced the launch of the first annual “Top-Tech Challenge,” set to take place at the National RV Trade Show in Louisville, KY, November 26-30, 2017. RV Technicians are invited to compete live in a head-to-head competition in Louisville to earn the title of Top Tech and $10K. The challenge will pit eight finalists against each other at the show and the final round will take place over the four-day period in a single elimination troubleshooting competition encompassing three different types of technical challenges.  More...

A newly published study shows that RV vacations cost substantially less than other forms of vacation travel, even when factoring in fuel prices and the cost of RV ownership. For a four-person travel party, the study found savings of 27-62%; a two-person travel party saved 11-48%. More...


Availability of 2014 Edition of RVIA RV Handbook – a Guide to the NFPA 1192
This bulletin serves to notify you that the 2014 edition of the RVIA RV Handbook – a Guide to the NFPA 1192 is now available for ordering. This Handbook outlines the uniform enforcement positions based on the 2015 editions of NFPA 1192, and the 2014 editions of NEC 70 and ANSI LV. It is used by the RVIA Inspection Staff during RV-OEM member inspections. The three RV code State Agencies (NE, OR, and WA) also agreed to these handbook enforcement positions. More...
