RV historian David Woodworth (at right, talking with reporters April 12) will appear on NBC’s Weekend TODAY show this Saturday, April 17, as he wraps up the first week of RVIA’s RV Centennial media tour. During his time on the road, Woodworth will travel to major Eastern media markets with a 1916 Telescoping Apartment RV and a modern 2010 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome, talking to reporters in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC about the RV industry’s century of bringing families closer together. U.S. House and Senate Recognize RV Industry’s 100th Anniversary [View]
The United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution May 26, “recognizing and honoring the 100 years of enjoyment of RVs in the United States.” The resolution passed by a unanimous voice vote. The U.S. Senate also recognized the RV industry’s Centennial by adopting a resolution May 14 that officially declares June 2010 to be "RV Centennial Celebration Month."
The House resolution, sponsored by Rep. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), had 54 additional co-sponsors. The Senate resolution was introduced by Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, and also championed by bipartisan cosponsors from key RV producing states including Senators Richard Lugar of Indiana, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Ron Wyden of Oregon, Charles Schumer of New York and George Voinovich of Ohio.
