Survey Shows RV Travel Will Rise This Spring and Summer [View] As the RV industry celebrates its Centennial this year, a new survey shows that interest in RV travel remains strong, with nearly half of RV owners planning to spend more time on the road this spring and summer than a year ago.

RVIA Revs Up for Committee Week and Annual Meeting [View] RVIA is gearing up for its two biggest member events of the year – Committee Week and the RVIA Annual Meeting – set to be held in Elkhart and South Bend June 7-10.  This year, Committee Week will be highlighted by RVIA’s fun-filled RV Centennial Celebration, taking place on Monday, June 7, at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum in Elkhart.

Centennial Media Tour Off to Strong Start as David Woodworth Heads to TODAY Show [View] RV historian David Woodworth (at right, talking with reporters April 12) will appear on NBC’s Weekend TODAY show this Saturday, April 17, as he wraps up the first week of RVIA’s RV Centennial media tour. During his time on the road, Woodworth will travel to major Eastern media markets with a 1916 Telescoping Apartment RV and a modern 2010 Fleetwood Discovery motorhome, talking to reporters in New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, DC about the RV industry’s century of bringing families closer together.

U.S. House and Senate Recognize RV Industry’s 100th Anniversary [View] The United States House of Representatives adopted a resolution May 26, “recognizing and honoring the 100 years of enjoyment of RVs in the United States.” The resolution passed by a unanimous voice vote. The U.S. Senate also recognized the RV industry’s Centennial by adopting a resolution May 14 that officially declares June 2010 to be "RV Centennial Celebration Month." The House resolution, sponsored by Rep. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), had 54 additional co-sponsors. The Senate resolution was introduced by Senator Evan Bayh of Indiana, and also championed by bipartisan cosponsors from key RV producing states including Senators Richard Lugar of Indiana, Mike Crapo of Idaho, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Ron Wyden of Oregon, Charles Schumer of New York and George Voinovich of Ohio.

New Harris Survey Reveals Current Motives for Buying An RV [View]   A new survey by Harris Interactive into which factors most influence RV purchase decisions shows that messages focusing on family togetherness and cost savings now resonate equally with potential RV buyers.  The survey also revealed positive attitudes about health and wellness benefits of RVing, which may help persuade non-owners to buy.

February Wholesale RV Shipments Rise as Positive Trend Continues [View] The results of RVIA’s February 2010 survey of manufacturers show that 20,100 new RVs were shipped from manufacturers to dealers in February, up 27% over January 2010 shipments and up 95% over February 2009 shipments.

RVIA Launches 100 Days of Centennial Tweets [View] To help bring attention to and celebrate the RV industry’s Centennial year, RVIA has kicked off “100 Days of RV History and Lifestyle” tweets on Go RVing’s Twitter account. Each day for one the one hundred days leading up to June 7 and the all-industry Centennial celebration at the RV/MH Hall of Fame and Museum, RVIA will post a “tweet” about the RV lifestyle or the RV industry’s history on popular social networking site Twitter.
