Shipments of all RVs (motorhomes, travel trailers, sport utility RVs, truck campers and folding camping trailers) totaled 353,400 units in 2007 — a 9.5 percent decrease compared to the previous year but was the fourth largest shipment level in 30 years.

Popularity:

Today a record 8.2 million RVs are on the roads in the United States. RVs are owned by nearly 8 million U.S. households—a 15 percent increase during 2001-2005, reveals a 2005 University of Michigan study. There are as many as 30 million RV enthusiasts, including renters, nationwide, according to RVIA estimates.

Growth:

Long-term signs point to substantial RV market growth because of favorable demographic and ownership trends, according to a 2005 University of Michigan study. The number of RV-owning households is estimated to rise 8 percent by 2010 to nearly 8.5 million.
