            International Efforts

RVIA’s international efforts in 2016 focused on influencing international standards that
impact U.S. produced RVs to ensure access to foreign markets. Emerging markets offer our
members a great opportunity for growth in the coming years and ensuring market access is
key to tapping the global market.

HIGHLIGHTS 1. Voice on International Stage

RVIA participated in the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) striving
to influence international standards impacting U.S. RVs to ensure access to foreign markets,
such as RVIA’s report to the UNECE brake committee on issues impacting U.S. travel trailers.

            2. Market Development Cooperator Program

RVIA is in year two of a three-year award in the Market Development Cooperator Program,
through which the Department of Commerce awards the association $300,000 in funds
and assistance to promote RVIA’s export efforts. Record numbers of international delegates
attended The National RV Trade Show, designated as an International Buyer Program by the
Department of Commerce. The show brought international buyers from Korea, China, Japan
and many other countries for business-to-business matchmaking.

            3. Promote RV lifestyle and the U.S. RV and campground
            standards in China

RVIA’s agenda for China is directed at both national and provincial levels to advocate for the
benefits that RVing and camping bring to China’s economy, promote U.S. RV products and
their lifestyle, and to promote U.S. RV and campground standards.

            4. Participate in Development of Standards and Regulations

In 2016, RVIA continued participating in China’s standards development. Thanks to the joint
efforts of industry participants, including RVIA’s contributions over the years, the Chinese
government has issued a series of pronouncements calling for a RV friendly regulatory
environment. RVIA continues to work on motor vehicle code and RV standards issues to
straighten out requirements for regulator compliance and to allow pro RV policies to be
implemented. Continued engagement is needed to ensure the China standards that are
developed do not lock U.S. products out of the market.
