Summer Guide 2016: Could We RV? [View]
Source: Creative Loafing Tampa
Published: Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Summary: I’d spent the previous afternoon at the company’s sprawling 126-acre complex in Seffner, hanging out with models in and around a gigundo super-deluxe 44-foot Monaco Dynasty for the purposes of a photo shoot gently mocking the notion of “glamping.” But today my husband, Larry, and I wanted to investigate the realities of actually owning an RV — not to glamp, or even so much to camp — but for some not-so-distant future when we could use it to escape Florida summers for a while, travel northwards and even live in the thing for a long-ish period of time.

April in Glenwood: It's An RV Life For Us [View]

Published: Thursday, May 26, 2016.
Summary: I like the idea of being able to see the wonders of America from the road — the World’s Wonder View Tower in Genoa, Colorado, and Yellowstone Park are a couple of spots on my bucket list. Driving from coast to coast, and glamping — I think with a baby I’d have to take the RV route — sounds like a fantastic way to enjoy a summer vacation. Or could be the most epic retirement ever, since time wouldn’t be such a factor. That idea of staying a few months at a time in a fully loaded campground, wi-fi and all, to coordinate with nice weather around the U.S. is exciting to me. I like the simple approach of having everything you need right there in the camper, keeping everything compact, and being able to pick up and move to the next locale on a whim.

Valley Life: Our Dream RV Just On Other Side Of Country [View]

Published: Tuesday, May 24, 2016.
Summary: Like many baby boomer couples, my husband and I have always dreamed about driving across the country in a big old RV and seeing how the rest of America lives. But when we bought our 15-year-old rig five years ago, we mostly used it for weekend getaways, never going further than a quick trip to Disneyland in Anaheim.

Source: Twin Cities Pioneer Press
Published: Sunday, May 22, 2016.
Summary: It’s Oct. 19, 2015. My husband and I have sold our house, rid ourselves of two-thirds of our possessions and packed up the remainder, along with our furry and feathered family (two dogs, two cats and a bird). We’ve said our tearful goodbyes to family and friends in Minnesota and set out on the road in our 1997 motorhome towing a 1988 Jeep Wrangler behind us.

Thor, Jayco Trailers, Winnebago Turnaround Key To RV Story In 2016 [View]
Source: Investor's Business Daily
Published: Friday, May 20, 2016.
Summary: In 2015, RV shipments from manufacturers to dealers hit their “best annual total since 2006,” according to the Recreation Vehicle Industry Association. That’s a 4.9% year-over-year increase to 374,246 units, it said, including a 7.6% jump in motorhomes and a 4.5% rise in towables (think travel trailers and toy haulers that have to be hitched to the back of another vehicle). Lower gas prices were the biggest factor contributing to last year’s pop in shipments, RVIA Western Show Director Tom Gaither told IBD. Lower interest rates and tame inflation also help.

Summary: It's all part of the RV lifestyle, which Martin says hasn't changed much -- despite some ups and downs. "I lived through the recession. Just watching the industry really just slow down and watching the city just become quiet was -- it was a scary time," he says. "And to see it come back relatively quickly... I'd rather have these problems than any other problems."

Summary: Now along comes this piece from Andrea Adelson of ESPN, describing the logistics of Mendenhall moving his family across the country when he left BYU for UVa. Adelson writes that as they wait for their property in Ivy to be renovated, they're living in a 44-foot RV. "You'd never think a head coach of a Division I program would be living in an RV and truly enjoying it," assistant Marques Hagans tells Adelson. "But that's what separates him."
