RVIA Board Votes to Amend Rules for 2008 California RV Show

With the 56th Annual California RV Show set for Oct. 10-19 at the Fairplex in Pomona, Calif., RVIA's Board of Directors voted at its September 13 meeting to allow dealers to exhibit up to 50 percent 2008 model new and untitled units alongside 2009 models at this year’s show.

“By allowing 2008 models at the Pomona show, RVIA is addressing the challenging times the RV industry currently faces and working to anticipate and meet the needs of our members,” said RVIA President Richard Coon.  “We are working very hard to promote the show, generate enthusiasm and attract consumers to make this a successful event for our exhibitors.”

At its June meeting, RVIA's Board of Directors approved a half million dollar retail advertising budget to draw attendees to this year's show, which will feature a wide range of  RVs, products and accessories. RVIA's show staff is working closely with their PR and advertising agency to ensure advertising dollars reach the broadest possible audience of RV owners and potential owners.  Increased use of the Internet along with more traditional media will help achieve this goal.

Since many American families are looking to save money on a vacation this year, show promoters are highlighting the fact that RVing is still less expensive than air travel and staying in hotels and provides quality family time. The diversity of product that attendees can only see at the show will also be featured.

The show's website (www.carvshow.com) continues to be a popular place for RVers to visit and find show information as well as information on what RVers are doing to adjust to higher fuel costs, how driving an RV is different - but not difficult, the fact that RVs have less of a carbon footprint than air/hotel travel and more - all designed to support RV sales and show attendance.

Seminars at the show will help attendees select the right RV and provide tips for full-timing and extended RV travel.  One of the most popular seminars from previous shows will be continued this year, "Yes, You Can Drive an RV.” In addition, RVIA spokespeople the Herzog family will be at the show to talk to attendees about their RV travel experiences.

Companies interested in exhibiting at the show should contact Marsha McInnis at
951-274-0696 or mmcinnis@rvia.org. For more information on the California show, visit www.carvshow.com or call RVIA’s Western Region Office at (951) 274-0696.
