Go RVing’s Trends to Know: Grandymoons
📊 Trends and insights: Go RVing is committed to keeping you up-to-date on trends and insights that impact the RV industry.
- One trend to watch is Grandymoons.
🤔 What is a grandymoon? A grandymoon is a new travel trend that honors grandparents and encourages multigenerational family trips. Grandymoons also celebrate the bond between grandparents and their grandchildren.
- Grandymoon trips offer a heartfelt way for families to thank grandparents for their love and support, especially for their role in raising younger family members, and create new, lasting memories across generations.
- These trips present opportunities for a family to take a break from their everyday responsibilities and embrace new adventures together. Whether it’s exploring a unique destination or trying a new activity, a Grandymoon is a great way to honor grandparents and foster connections in a new, exciting context.
🔎 A closer look: In 2023, the Family Travel Association Annual Family Travel Survey gathered data from 3,300 parents and grandparents. They found that more than half of parents are planning to travel with both their children and their own parents, citing it as a key reason this type of travel is on the rise.
- A big part of that growth is being driven by grandparents themselves: 54% say they organize these trips, and nearly half have taken a multigenerational trip in the past three years. Another 40% say they plan to do so in the next three years.
🚍 A grand road trip: RVing is well-suited to become part of the Grandymoon travel trend. Here are a few reasons for consumers to embrace the idea:
- Comforts of home: RV travel means that all family members can bring their belongings with them, providing greater peace and relaxation.
- Flexibility and freedom: RV trips provide families the freedom to decide their itineraries and have adventures at their own pace. There’s no shortage of destinations to visit. Campgrounds, national parks, scenic routes, adventures, famous landmarks, and other fascinating locations are all possibilities. There’s something for everyone when traveling in an RV.
- Control: Grandparents are able to control the environment, such as the temperature and noise levels. This also helps create a feeling of comfort and improves grandparents’ overall RV experience.
- Affordability: RV vacations cost much less than other types of vacation travel, even when factoring in fuel prices and the cost of RV ownership. On a Grandymoon, this means that grandparents and other family members can travel with fewer financial concerns.
- Opportunities for connection: There are numerous opportunities for spending time with family members during a multigenerational Grandymoon RV trip. This is a perfect opportunity for all family members to create wonderful memories that last a lifetime. (Of course, during Grandymoon, RVers should also make sure to thank grandparents for their significant contributions to childcare and family support!).
👨👨👧👦 Embracing the trend: Go RVing continues to encourage multigenerational family trips, partly through engagement with the Grandymoon trend.
