Navarro College Launches First-of-Its-Kind RV Technician Training Program to Meet Growing Workforce Demand
Navarro College, a Texas-based public, comprehensive community college, and RV Technical Institute, the only RV industry-endorsed technician training program, are breaking new ground to launch a first-of-its-kind RV Technician Training Program in Texas to train and certify RV technicians that will be qualified to join the workforce in RV dealerships and independent mobile technician businesses.
The Corsicana-based community college has become the first in the country to be named an RV Technical Institute Authorized Learning Partner, bringing RVTI’s nationally recognized Level 1 technician curriculum to students. Developed in collaboration with Texas-based Fun Town RV and RV aftermarket supplier Lippert Components, the program, set to commence on October 20, provides hands-on technical instruction in inspecting propane, electrical, plumbing, appliance, and chassis systems, as well as diagnosing and repairing issues across multiple RV types.
“This partnership represents a best practice in how community colleges can collaborate directly with industry to design programs that truly meet workforce needs. By aligning with the RV Technical Institute and key industry partners like Fun Town RV and Lippert Components, Navarro College is ensuring that our students gain the hands-on skills and certifications employers are looking for,” states Dr. Tara Peters, Executive Director of Workforce, Career and Technical Education at Navarro College. “We are proud to lead the way as the first community college Authorized Learning Partner, setting a model for how higher education and industry can work together to build a talent pipeline that addresses workforce needs.”
The program’s launch also highlights the broader economic role of the RV industry in Texas. As one of the nation’s largest RV markets, Texas continues to see growth in RV ownership, travel, and manufacturing. The new Navarro College program ensures a trained workforce to support that expansion. Fun Town RV, headquartered in Fort Worth, has been instrumental in championing the program and has provided strong financial support to help launch the initiative and fund scholarships for the program.
“We are proud to partner with Navarro College to launch this RV technician program. By training and certifying skilled technicians, this initiative will strengthen the entire RV industry, improve customer satisfaction, and provide local high school graduates with a clear and accessible path into a rewarding career in the RV field," said Amberly Patrick, Training Director for Fun Town RV.
“Expanding certified RV technician training through community hubs like Navarro College is the fastest way to build the skilled workforce needed to meet the demand from RV owners across Texas,” shares RV Technical Institute Vice President Sharonne Lee. “We’re proud to welcome Navarro College as our first community college partner, and it would not have been possible without the support from Fun Town RV and Lippert. This collaboration is a game-changer for the future of the industry.”
