RVDA/RVIA Technician Certification Program Transitioning To RV Technical Institute

Nov 25, 2019

The deadline for applying to take the current RV Dealer Association/RV Industry Association certification test is December 31, 2019.

“As we begin a new era of technician certification and training through the RV Technical Institute, the RV Industry Association and RV Dealer Association will be working to make a smooth transition as we sunset the current technician certification program,” said RV Industry Association President Craig Kirby and RV Dealer Association President Phil Ingrassia in a joint statement.

Any RV service technician interested in taking the current registered technician test or the full certification test must apply with payment by midnight December 31, 2019. The first testing attempt must be completed by March 31, 2020.

Retesting will be allowed up to 90 days after the initial test is completed. No retests will be allowed after June 30, 2020.

Current Registered, Certified, or Master Certified Technicians will have the following designations under the new RV Technical Institute program.

  • Registered technicians will be re-designated as Certified Technician Level 1.
  • Certified technicians will be re-designated as Certified Technician Level 2.
  • Master Certified technicians will be re-designated as Master Certified Technician Level 4.
  • Certified Technicians Level 2 with proof of required supplier trainings completed within the past 5 years will be re-designated Certified Technician Level 3 and/or Master Certified Technician Level 4, as appropriate.

Current Registered, Certified, or Master Certified technicians can expect to receive their new RV Technical Institute credentials at no charge during the 2020 transitional year. Click here for more information.
