Jun 11, 2018

It’s only appropriate that June 6, 2018 – a great day on Capitol Hill – ended with an exclamation point – at the RVs Move America reception in the Hart Senate Office Building!

Highlighted by remarks from RV Caucus members Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN), Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-IN) and Rep. Dennis Ross (R-FL), the reception celebrated the success of the RV industry and spread the message that RVs Move America.

Over 150 members of the RV industry didn’t just celebrate on June 6 in DC; they took part in 170 Capitol Hill and Trump Administration meetings, the RV Industry Association’s largest Advocacy Day to date. As BJ Thompson, owner of BJ Thompson & Associates, told reception attendees: “You play a vital role in our legislative efforts, so thank you to all our members who joined us today to meet with legislators from across the country.”

Thompson, who pinch-hit for the RV Industry Association chairman Bob Parish as MC for the reception since Parish and others had a late afternoon meeting with Secretary of Interior Ryan Zinke, also praised Sen. Donnelly and Reps. Walorski and Ross at the event.

“In the past year, RV Caucus members have provided support on important industry issues like electronic logging devices, campground modernization and expansion, tariffs on steel and aluminum and harmonization of US and Canadian wiring standards,” said Thompson.  “Caucus members have also actively promoted the RV industry during Committee hearings. We look forward to continuing to work with the House and Senate RV Caucuses to move the needle on other priorities vital to the RV industry.”

Throughout Advocacy Day, industry leaders emphasized to Senators, House members and their staffs that the RV market is experiencing historic success as it surpasses 2017’s record-breaking year.  Their overriding message: “Success doesn’t just happen, success is made.”
