2026 Edition of RV Industry Association RV Handbook Now Available

The 2026 edition of the RV Industry Association RV Handbook, A Guide to the NFPA 1192, is available for ordering. This handbook outlines the uniform enforcement positions based on the 2026 edition of the NFPA 1192 and 2026 NEC, Article 551. RV Industry Association Inspection Staff use this resource during RV member inspections. 

The RV Industry Association's Board of Directors has established an effective date of June 1, 2026, for in-field use of the latest editions of the above standards, along with this Handbook, and a mandatory enforcement date of September 1, 2026. The RV Industry Association will use and promote these standards during the transition period from June to September and will provide in-field training regarding the new or revised requirements. 

As a requirement of membership, each RV manufacturer must have at least one copy of the 2026 NFPA 1192, 2026 NEC, and the Guide to NFPA 1192 present at every production campus operated by that manufacturer. RV Industry Association inspection staff verify that the manufacturer has the latest edition at every production campus.

The RV Industry Association’s Standards program is its greatest member benefit. The Standards Department maintains a professional team of full-time inspectors who promote the enhancement of safety by monitoring adherence to the standards adopted by the Board of Directors for the construction of RVs and Park Model RVs. The team conducts more than 2,000 unannounced inspections of member company RV manufacturing plants annually. The primary goal of the Standards Department Inspection Program is to monitor the pledge of member manufacturers to build in conformance to the following Association-adopted standards, including the 2026 NFPA 1192 and the 2026 NEC.
