During last week’s annual RV Power Breakfast, keynote speaker Rick May, Senior National Advisor for Recreation to the Secretary of the Interior, announced that the RV industry has potentially solved a significant problem facing national park superintendents: how to provide safe and comfortable housing for staff at a reasonable cost. A new pilot program at Rocky Mountain National Park, made possible by the donation of four park model RVs (PMRV) by Forest River, will test the use of PMRVs for staff housing.

If the pilot program is a success, PMRVs may be purchased for use throughout the 417 national parks across the country. Already, the announcement has stirred interest from other national parks who have reached out to the RV Industry Association about the project. 

Darla Sidles, Superintendent of Rocky Mountain National Park, also spoke at the event about her excitement to use the PMRVs as a recruiting tool to attract people to fill critical jobs in Rocky Mountain National Park. Immediately following the RV Power Breakfast, Ms. Sidles and Mr. May toured a PMRV, as well as other RVs which were displayed outside the event.
