Regulatory & Safety Compliance Seminar Covers Key Aspects of Safety and Compliance

Aug 2, 2022

RSCOn July 26, 2022, the RV Industry Association hosted its seventh annual Regulatory & Safety Compliance Seminar in Elkhart, IN. The full day event focused on NHTSA and Transport Canada recall trends, changes to Transport Canada regulations, the regulatory defect investigation and recall processes, identifying possible safety issues, parts traceability, reporting of manufacturer communications, recall completion rates, consent orders, and EPA/CARB regulations.

“I’m new to the RV Industry but I am already impressed with the commitment from the RV Industry Association and fellow industry leaders to share best practices on product safety and compliance,” said Kevin Van Bronkhorst, Director of Enterprise Product Safety and Compliance at Winnebago Industries. “This seminar, which included key partners from Transport Canada and NHTSA, is a great example of how this is done effectively.”

RSCA keynote presentation was given by Jeremy Hamilton of Transport Canada and Choon Lee of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, followed by a panel consisting of industry compliance veterans where the nearly 100 attendees had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions to both the panelists and the regulators. After lunch, the expanded programming included a presentation on EPA and CARB regulations currently impacting the RV industry.

“NHTSA and Transport Canada regulations and expectations can be complex,” said Von Lindsey, President of Lindsey Research Services. “The recently held Regulatory & Safety Compliance Seminar hosted by the RV Industry Association provided an incredible opportunity for those who attended to learn and take home ideas regarding compliance, recalls, completion rates, parts traceability, and the potential consequences of failing to comply with government regulations.”

RSCThanks to the generous sponsors, THOR Industries, Winnebago Industries, Forest River Inc., Lippert, Dave Carter & Associates, Dexter, and Dometic, this seminar was free to all members.
