2026 Advocacy Day Topics And Trainings
In just a few weeks, the RV industry will converge on Capitol Hill for Advocacy Day taking place during RVs Move America Week. A highlight of this year’s event will be the release of a brand-new economic impact study, allowing industry leaders to share the latest specific data on how RVing drives the American economy with policymakers.
During Advocacy Day, participants will meet directly with their elected officials, Congressional staff, and administration officials. These meetings provide a vital platform for advocates to share key policy concerns and deliver specific "asks" that impact the industry's ability to grow and support American jobs.
Key Advocacy Topics
Advocates will address several critical issues during their Congressional meetings:
- Tariffs: Broad tariffs can unintentionally penalize domestic manufacturers who rely on specific materials that are currently unavailable in the U.S. Advocates are asking for a targeted, strategic approach that maximizes pressure on bad actors abroad while minimizing collateral damage to U.S. businesses.
- Public Lands: The Legacy Restoration Fund was created to fix deteriorating infrastructure, including crumbling roads and outdated campgrounds, on America's public lands. Supporting the America the Beautiful Act ensures this fund is reauthorized to address a maintenance backlog that exceeds $40 billion.
- Tax Deductions: The "No Tax on Car Loan Interest" deduction created by the One Big Beautiful Bill currently excludes most RVs, making RVs ineligible for the $10,000 per year deduction in interest on newly purchased, U.S.-assembled vehicles. The industry is working to explicitly include all RVs in the definition of applicable motor vehicles to keep the RV lifestyle affordable for families.
- RV Caucus: Members of the House and Senate RV Caucuses serve as industry champions, supporting critical issues like campground modernization and federal housing definitions. Advocates will encourage non-members to join these caucuses to help educate their colleagues on the American-made RV industry.
Attendee Training
To ensure a successful day, the RV Industry Association is providing multiple training opportunities:
- Virtual Webinars: The first training session on May 14th at 2 pm ET will walk through policy asks, and the second training session on May 15th at 11:30 am ET will walk through the new RVMA all-in-one app. Both sessions will be recorded and shared with advocates following the webinars.
- In-Person Prep: On Tuesday, June 2nd, attendees can participate in a dedicated session for first-time advocates and a policy briefing with Government Affairs staff at the Mayflower Hotel.
