Heather Jenks: Dedicated To Excellent Customer Service

Genesis Products’ Vice President of Sales, Heather Jenks, combines her personal love for camping with extensive sales expertise to enhance customer experiences for RV manufacturers and consumers.
Genesis Products supplies laminated panels, wood components, and custom molded solutions. They serve manufacturers across a growing spectrum of industries, including RVs, manufactured housing, and other sectors.
Originally from Asheville, NC, Heather moved to Bristol, IN, during childhood. “My dad had just gotten out of the Navy and found a job in the RV industry,” she explains. Heather later graduated from Goshen College.
Heather’s dedication to the RV industry derives from her own personal passion for the outdoors. “As a kid, I spent almost every weekend camping on a small lake in Angola, IN. We had a little Viking pop-up camper,” she recalls. “Those are some of my absolute favorite childhood memories, and that’s where my passion for this industry comes from.”
Heather’s sales expertise spans multiple industries. “I began working in sales at Welch Packaging, a corrugated box company. I later joined Doors Plus, which focused on residential housing—specifically interiors, doors, and stair systems—for both the stick-built and manufactured housing industries,” she explains. “I was there for 11 years before starting my RV career, which has been mostly with Genesis Products. I started in 2007 as an outside sales rep and became Genesis’ Vice President of Sales in 2014.”
In her current role with Genesis Products, Heather wears multiple hats: “I help with strategic planning for the RV sales pipeline while working alongside the team to grow business across all our interior product lines. I help create and deliver our value proposition to manufacturers, keeping the end user in mind. I work alongside our product and marketing teams to ensure we’re aligned every step of the customer journey.”
After an agreement is reached, Heather says, she trains her outside and inside sales teams to execute those strategic plans and represent Genesis’ product to manufacturers. “Being part of the sales team is a lot about problem-solving,” she explains. “We work at finding creative ways to deliver the best possible experience for both our manufacturer customer and our Genesis internal customer. One of Genesis’ strategic pillars focuses on customer needs first. As the sales lead, I make sure the team has the resources and tools they need so we can serve our customers to the best of our ability.”
“We manufacture most of the interior products we offer, custom-making each part from start to finish,” continues Heather. “We constantly look for ways to improve and service our industry better. We want our end customer to have the best possible experience, while keeping processes cost-effective and product production friendly. It's important to have alignment between our customers’ expectations and our ability to produce and meet those expectations.”
Additionally, Heather oversees the company’s warranty department. “It’s something I enjoy working with,” she says. “Our goal is for end users to have an enjoyable experience, so they continue camping. Seeing warranty issues firsthand helps develop and sell better products in the future.”
Looking forward, Genesis Products is focused on product innovation. “We’re continually working on ways to grow, improve, and create innovative products,” Heather states. “Innovation is truly in our DNA. We strive to provide unique experiences for each customer by offering solutions that help set them apart, like exclusive finishes, lightweight materials, or design engineering. As part of our ongoing commitment and partnership with our customers and the RV industry, we take feedback from the market into consideration. We want people who work with our products to feel engaged and heard.”
Heather notes that Genesis strives to ensure aesthetics and the end user’s experience are not compromised. One way the company gained firsthand knowledge of its customers’ experiences is by taking an RV trip of its own. “Recently, our senior leadership team went on a camping trip, and— outside of getting married— it was one of the most enjoyable things I've done in a long time. We went on the trip because it's difficult to create interior solutions in RVs if we don't understand how the end user is experiencing it,” Heather reflects. “We also discussed opportunities to enhance our products while making them more durable. The trip was an opportunity to find product improvements that meet our customers’ needs at optimal price points. Genesis is committed to delivering the best product and growing within the RV segment.”
In her personal life, Heather is passing her appreciation for the outdoors to her family’s next generation: “I'm married, and I have three children, a son-in-law, and a beautiful two-year-old granddaughter. She is my pride and joy. She has already been camping, and she loves it.”
“I want my family, and other families, to have that same opportunity to experience the outdoors I did when I was growing up,” Heather continues. “In the summer, I spend a lot of time on the lake, and in the winter, I am an avid snowboarder. It is some of the most enjoyable family times we have, because everyone is away from their phones and not distracted. It's a great time to disconnect and be present with my family.”
Heather is also involved in philanthropy: “I am on the Board of Directors for the Goshen Boys and Girls Club, and a huge advocate for the Ronald McDonald House, a personal passion of mine.”
In addition to her responsibilities as Vice President of Sales at Genesis, and her dedication to her family and philanthropy efforts, Heather is also closely involved with the RV Industry Association, serving as a member of the Board of Directors.
“I'm honored to be on the RV Industry Association’s Board,” Heather says. “This will be my third year as a Board member, and it has been awesome working alongside some of the most incredible people in the industry. They share my passion and excitement for growing the RV industry for generations to come.”
Heather adds that she is involved in several Association committees. “I serve on four committees: the Government Affairs Committee, the Market Information Committee, the Campground Coalition, and the Awards Committee,” she notes.
Additionally, Heather has attended multiple Association events, including the Leadership Conferences and RVs Move America Week. “Advocating alongside our industry in Washington, D.C. has been truly inspiring,” Heather says.
Throughout Heather’s involvement with the RV Industry Association, she has developed a passion for sharing the Association’s dedication to the well-being of the RV sector. “One of the key takeaways in my time on the Board is just how much the Association does behind the scenes. It’s reassuring to know we have a team that advocates for us daily,” she says. “The advocacy efforts that support the RV industry’s continued health don’t happen by chance. It takes a village, and every person at the RV Industry Association brings passion to their role. They are dedicated to moving the industry forward. It’s an honor to serve alongside the Board and work with the Association.”
