RV Industry Association Celebrates Passage Of Fifth-Wheel Length Bill In Washington
The RV Industry Association is celebrating the passage of House Bill 2467. This legislation, signed on Monday, March 16, by Governor Bob Ferguson, clarifies how to correctly measure a fifth-wheel trailer to ensure it stays within the current law limitation of 46 feet. House Bill 2476 will take effect on Thursday, June 11, 2026.
With this legislation passed, plan approvals in the state will have to specify that a fifth-wheel is in accordance with this measurement procedure, which would measure from the center of the kingpin to the rearmost extremity of the vehicle.
HB 2467 was developed by a coalition of RV dealers in the state, led by LaDonna Meadows of Tacoma RV and a member of the RV Dealers Association Executive Committee, who were concerned about being able to sell all lengths of fifth-wheel trailers.
Four RV dealers testified in support of the legislation, along with Michael Ochs, RV Industry Association Director of State Affairs, who also provided testimony in support of the bill.
The RV Industry Association is pleased to see a new law that will provide relief and certainty to fifth-wheel manufacturers, dealers, and consumers in the state of Washington.
