Skills That Travel: RV Industry Surges Recruitment Of Veteran Mechanics

Nov 5, 2025

To help meet the demand for technicians skilled in repair, maintenance and inspections, the RV Industry Association and the RV Dealers Association in 2019 established the RV Technical Institute (RVTI), based in Elkhart, Indiana. The nonprofit institute offers in-person, online or hybrid training and certification courses to train and certify RV service technicians to work at dealerships or own their own shops or mobile RV service companies.

Many veterans and service members already have technical hands-on training, work discipline and travel experience that fit well in the RV industry. Through programs such as RVTI's and others, veterans can earn certifications and expand skills into a good-paying career as an RV service technician.
