Meet Alice Brumfield, The RV Industry Association’s New State Legislative Associate

The RV Industry Association welcomes Alice Brumfield as its new State Legislative Associate. The RV Industry Association’s Government Affairs staff are industry experts for our members, state legislators, regulators, and RV industry stakeholders. Their federal and state affairs teams champion the RV industry on Capitol Hill and closely follow relevant legislation and policies.
Alice started her Government Affairs career interning in the Indiana Senate before eventually moving to DC to work at a full-service state government affairs firm. “While there, I completed what was essentially a legislative boot camp, learning the process of every state legislature in the country,” says Alice. “I learned the nuances, differences, and deadlines for each legislature, as well as what moves bills from one chamber to another. I also gained client-facing skills that I believe will be an asset to our Government Affairs team as we continue advocating to state lawmakers and regulators on behalf of our members.”
Alice later joined Honda's state affairs team. “It was in Honda’s Government Affairs office that I learned how our clients at my previous job would utilize the information we were finding and sending out. Knowing how that data was applied allowed me to see the broader picture in how Government Affairs can impact a business, large and small.”
The experience also introduced Alice to trade associations from a member perspective. “I developed a sense of how members participate in associations and what information they need to know as they navigate an ever-more-complicated state legislative and regulatory landscape. That perspective has already been helpful as I continue learning more about my role at the RV Industry Association and how my work impacts our members,” she states. “I also loved digging deeper into automotive policy, particularly in the safety space, and developed a larger appreciation for mobility as a whole.”
It was that appreciation that led her to the RV Industry Association. “When I saw the job post, it was like a lightbulb went off! The intersection of mobility and outdoors is fascinating because it's very niche,” Alice explains. “And when you are a niche player in policy, that can present its own set of challenges. It really felt like the job was custom-made for me, so I absolutely had to take a chance and apply.”
In early December of 2025, Alice joined the RV Industry Association staff. In her new role as State Legislative Associate, Alice is one of the frontline individuals identifying legislation that can impact the association and its members.
“I review legislation as it comes out to see whether it would impact the RV industry, via definitions or prohibitions,” she explains. “Once I determine the relevance of the bill, I then analyze the legislation to assess the impact that it will have, and my team and I articulate it to both Association staff and to our members.”
Additionally, Alice is responsible for following these bills throughout their life cycle, tracking them from their introduction until they are either signed by the governor or lapse at the end of the legislative session. She also assists with research and communications.
Alice notes that, so far, her favorite aspect of her new position has been immersing herself in the RV industry. “For me, this is a new industry. I'm learning ways that legislation can impact members and how we can keep our members as protected as possible,” she continues. “I’ve been diving deep into the history of RVs, how they’re manufactured and regulated, and also speaking extensively with well-informed RV Industry Association staff who are fountains of knowledge about all things RV.”
Although new to the industry, Alice is already inspired by RVing’s ability to connect people with the natural world. “I appreciate that the RV industry is encouraging people to get outside,” she says. “We have such a gorgeous, natural landscape in our country. It's a vast place.”
“RVing provides an affordable way for people, including those who may not have access otherwise, to explore the country. That’s very valuable,” Alice concludes. “Over the course of my career here, I want to help create a favorable political landscape that would get folks into RVs so that they can experience the country and its natural wonders for themselves.”
