For RVers, National Plan For Vacation Day Is More Important Than Ever

Jan 26, 2021

Today, January 26, is National Plan For Vacation Day, a day dedicated to encouraging Americans to plan all of their days off for the year to avoid leaving any unused vacation days on the table. At a time when RVing is more popular than ever, it is important for RVers to start planning their vacations.

“While one of the best things about RVing is the ability to just pick up and go, there is also a lot to be said for the anticipation of a well-planned trip. As more and more people are discovering the joys of RVing, it is a good idea to plan out your RV trips, especially if the trip is over a holiday weekend or to a popular destination,” said Go RVing Vice President Karen Redfern. “Remarkably, American workers left an average of 33% of their paid time off on the table last year. That doesn’t have to be the case this year because Go RVing has the resources to help people plan their perfect RV trip.”

To help RVers plan their vacations, Go RVing provides resources and inspiration on their website for those looking for expert advice, budget tips, help with trip planning, and where to find an RV dealership and a campground.

More good news for the RV industry is that in a survey done by the U.S. Travel Association, responses to where Americans want to focus when prioritizing their travel in 2021 are all activities which are best done in an RV:

  • Finding a change of scenery: 69%
  • Spending more time with family or friends: 61%
  • Visiting destination on bucket lists: 55%
  • Exploring more of the U.S.: 54%
  • Reconnecting with significant others: 52%

This year there is a lot of opportunity for the RV industry. Not only are RV shipments projected to continue to rise, but many Americans have even more paid time off and are looking to spend it on vacation. According to research from the U.S. Travel Association, more than 9 in 10 (93%) say it is important to use their paid time off to travel.

It is easy to see why. Nearly 8 in 10 (77%) American workers are extremely or very happy while on vacation. And it is not just being on vacation that makes people happy, 97% of survey respondents say just having a trip planned makes them happier.

As RVs continue to offer the freedom for people to enjoy an active outdoor lifestyle while also controlling their environment, Go RVing will continue to offer the resources to make finding the right RV and planning the best RV trip easier than ever.
