Job Duties

This position provides RV manufacturer members with in-plant inspections to ensure that members meet their commitment to produce RVs & PMRVs that comply with the adopted standards and program requirements as established by the RV Industry Association’s Board of Directors. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Conduct unannounced in-plant inspections. Conduct and meet with potential member applicants to provide initial inspection(s) and educate them on all the mandated compliance responsibilities. Work to maintain a positive relationship between members and the Association by taking on the role as an educator. Provide technical input for NFPA 1192, ANSI LV, NEC 7 ANSI A119.5 code change proposals or respective Handbook update proposals. Potentially assist with the move-in & move-out operations of the California RV Show located in Fontana, CA. Perform special projects as requested by the Senior Director of Standards or VP Standards & Education (e.g.: technical research, photography, technical writing, develop ppt presentation, etc.).

This position involves extensive travel in the United States and Canada. The travel would include up to 120 hotel nights and approximately 25,000 miles of driving and a minimum of six flying trips and up to six out-of-town weekends. Employee would be required to perform travel using their own reliable vehicle and the RV Industry Association would reimburse at the federal IRS standard mileage rate for all work-related miles driven. A valid Driver’s License and Passport are required.

Required Skills and Experience

The position requires a high school degree preferably an associate or bachelor’s degree. Master certified technician is a plus. Preferred job-related experiences include mechanical skills in the areas of RVs and/or automotive production and repair, technical hands-on experience in the area of trouble shooting appliances or other systems like electrical/plumbing or propane. Possess a technical teaching background. Candidate should have the ability to create and present a PowerPoint Presentation on technical topics.
