Minnesota PFAS Reporting Deadline: September 15th

As part of the PFAS pollution prevention law called Amara’s Law, manufacturers are required to report intentionally added PFAS in products sold in Minnesota and pay a fee. Initial reports are due by September 15, 2026. Products manufactured before July 1, 2023, are excluded. Subsequent reports are due each year on February 1.

If more time is needed, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is accepting requests for a one-time, 90-day extension of the state's initial PFAS-in-products reporting deadline. To request an extension, the application package must be postmarked by August 16th and include a payment of $300. If approved, the reporting deadline for the extension is December 14th, 2026. 

MPCA requires extension requests to include a signed certification and brief statements describing:

• Why additional time is needed;
• Steps already taken to comply with the reporting requirements;
• The plan to complete reporting by the extended deadline.

Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has indicated that extension requests should be concise and focused and do not require extensive supporting documentation.
