Over 70 Industry Pros Gather in Elkhart for RV Safety Standards Seminar

Last week, the RV Industry Association’s Standards department hosted an in-person seminar at the Lerner Theatre in Elkhart, IN, that provided an overview of changes and new additions to safety standards adopted by the RV industry. Over 70 industry members were in attendance.
The seminar covered the following:
- Reorganization and changes of the 2026 edition of NFPA 1192 Standard on RVs
- New items included in NFPA 70, the National Electrical Code
- Significant updates to the ANSI/RVIA DC Voltage Systems in RVs
- Review of the ANSI/RVIA Park Model RV Standard and CSA Z240 RV Series 23
“Overall, we had great participation from our industry members involved in ensuring their companies are prepared to meet these rigorous safety standards,” says Bryan Ritchie, Vice President of Standards. “Our commitment to self-regulation and continuous improvement is the foundation of our industry's growth and the safety of the RVing public."

In the coming weeks, a Standards News Bulletin with seminar material and the Q&A discussion will be published. There are also plans for a follow-up webinar for those unable to attend the in-person event.
These initiatives highlight why RV Industry Association’s Standards program is widely considered its greatest member benefit. The Standards Department maintains a professional team of full-time inspectors that promote the enhancement of safety by monitoring adherence to the standards adopted by the Board of Directors for the construction of RVs and Park Model RVs. The team conducts more than 2,000 unannounced inspections of member company RV manufacturing plants annually and provides educational resources and hands-on training to manufacturer members to support their commitment to comply with these adopted codes and standards.
