Justification: RV-C currently provides a bare-bones method of firmware and configuration transfer using multipackets and/or the DOWNLOAD (17D00 block) DGN. This command adds to this capability by providing a standardized way of validating firmware or configuration loads in advance of transfer, eliminating failures where the wrong firmware or configuration is transferred. We chose to extend the “generic revision” series of DGNs due to its flexibility and its support for multiple subsystems per RV-C node.
