Nominations Open For 2020 RV Industry Association Board Of Directors

Jun 26, 2019

Are you interested in serving on the RV Industry Association’s Board of Directors? Nominations are now being accepted! Members may submit nominations for a colleague or themselves for a three-year position on the board set to begin Jan. 1, 2020. The Association’s Governance Committee is currently inviting submissions from RV industry leaders who are interested in running for one of the seven open director positions up for election this year including three supplier representatives, two manufacturer representatives, one park model manufacturer representative and one at-large representative.

The Board of Directors is the highest level of authority in the Association’s overall organizational structure and is responsible for setting and overseeing strategy and policy related to critical topics such as standards, marketing, government affairs, trade shows, industry education and association finances. We are seeking strong candidates from member companies to uphold these responsibilities.

Here are some quick facts about the Board of Directors:

HOW MANY MEMBERS SIT ON THE BOARD?
As currently constituted, there are 21 director seats drawn from the following classifications: 9 RV manufacturers; 2 park model RV manufacturers; 5 suppliers and 5 at-large members.

HOW OFTEN DOES THE BOARD MEET?
The Board meets at least three times a year: in January or February, in June (RVs Move America Week in Washington, DC) and in mid-November.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE REQUIRED?
Nominees must be a management-level employee of a voting class member company in good standing with the RV Industry Association. Persons employed by associate, manufacturer’s representative or honorary member entities are ineligible.

HOW LONG ARE BOARD TERMS?
Terms are for three years with a maximum of three consecutive terms allowed.

At the June 2018 board meeting, the board made the decision to move the association’s financials from a fiscal year to a calendar year. This has implications on the election cycle as well, and as a result, the current positions listed above have terms that extend until Dec. 31, 2019 rather than Sept. 30, 2019 as it has in previous years.

The election will take place this September and the results will be announced in October. All newly elected board members are expected to be at the board meeting on November 12 which will take place during the RV Dealers Association’s 2019 RV Dealers Convention and Expo in Las Vegas, for transition and orientation training. Newly elected board members will begin serving their terms on Jan. 1, 2020.
