Go RVing Casts A Wide Net For Experiential Events In Michigan

Oct 17, 2018

From state fairs to college football tailgating tours and more, Go RVing experiential events can be found at an assortment of venues across the country. Experiential events go beyond a one-on-one conversation and a handout. They provide an in-person experience where individuals can tour RVs on-site, gain a perspective of life on the road and learn about the opportunities this lifestyle has to offer for all walks of life.

From coast to coast, wherever the event, Go RVing partners with dealerships and associations to make these events possible. Darren Ing, Director of Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) in Okemos, Mich., has been instrumental in connecting Go RVing with dealerships for RV events throughout Michigan. As a state association representative, Darren’s perspective is invaluable given his coordination efforts with Go RVing and his intimate knowledge of how dealerships directly benefit.

One Go RVing event Darren helped coordinate was a display at a Michigan State football game a year prior to the first of the displays at the Faster Horses Festival.

“I was very impressed with how the format was conducted and the interaction between the Go RVing representatives and the public,” said Darren.

He and the MARVAC team helped link Go RVing with interested dealerships for that event and did the same for the following Faster Horses Festival to make it back to back years.

At Faster Horses, the welcoming display and friendliness of the Go RVing representatives left a lasting impression on Darren. “I liked how the display represented a real camping experience,” he said. “I felt the casual format allowed for the public to ask questions about the lifestyle and demonstrated how they could use RVs for different events.” Visitors were able to walk through two travel trailers, examine them and have their questions answered by experts in the field.

These experiential events, hosted by Go RVing, are created with the consumer in mind to place the real product in front of an audience and generate interest for the RV lifestyle and industry. But success for the participating dealership is something that is authentically achieved, as well. The participating dealership at the Faster Horses event followed up with Darren, with enthusiasm, to inform him that they had an increase in visits and calls as a direct result of people visiting the display. Furthermore, Darren witnessed the number one objective of these Go RVing events achieved. “From the national and state levels it is critical to educate both current and perspective consumers on the RV lifestyle,” he shared.

"There is an RV available for almost every budget. Working together we can continue to raise awareness that everyone is welcome to the RV lifestyle.”

As the 2018 calendar of experiential events wraps up, Go RVing is already looking ahead to 2019 - returning to events, as well as many new exciting opportunities, all with the objective of getting the industry’s products in front of the target audience in a fun environment!
