Go RVing RV Owner Demographic Profile: Park Model RVs

Apr 19, 2022

The Go RVing RV Owner Demographic Profile is the most comprehensive study of RV ownership ever conducted, providing deep insights and perspectives on the demographics and ownership habits of RV Owners, Former RV Owners, and RV Intenders. The study identified seven distinct clusters based on RV owners’ unique motivations, needs, and habits. It also offers a breakdown of the different types of RVs and a study of which demographics tend to prefer different types of RVs.

Today we are looking at the demographics of owners of park model RVs, which are owned by 1% of RVers. Unlike more traditional RVs, park models are designed to stay in one place for longer periods of time, typically purchased and owned by campground operators.

For individual RV purchasers, young families make up 14% of park model owners, with 31% being first time owners. 21% are millennials and Gen Zers. Park model RVs owners spend the bulk of their vacation time (57%) using their RV, typically in the summer months (84%), followed by fall (77%), spring (34%), and winter (33%).

Park Model HabitsAlongside RV travel, 30% of park model owners also participate in outdoor sports, while 40% go fishing and 32% enjoy water recreational activities. Their top three reasons for RVing are simply unwinding and relaxing (21%), saving money on travel costs (13%), and spending time in nature (11%). Other outdoor recreational activities they bring with them include bicycles (16%) and secondary vehicles (15%).
